SHORT TERM EXCHANGE PROGRAM (STEP)

Beginning Summer 2025, Rotary District 6080 will offer two types of Short-Term Exchange Programs (STEP).

With RYE, the world is wide open.

Family-to-family exchange

Family-to-family exchange involves the matching of a USA student between the ages of 15-17 with a student from another country. Typically, age, interests, and gender are factors that are considered when making a match.

The USA student travels to the host country for a three to four week stay with their host brother or sister and their family. The host brother or sister then comes to stay with the USA family sometime in the summer for three to four weeks. The students have an exchange lasting six to eight weeks abroad and hosting. Typically, the USA student travels first, but the dates and order are agreed upon by the two families.

While the host brother or sister are in the USA, the family of the USA student should plan activities and trips to help the host brother/sister experience American culture and activities. The USA student may not work during the time the host brother/sister is visiting in the USA.

International Camps/Tours

International Camps/Tours involve a structured one-way experience where USA students between the ages of 15-25 participate in a camp or tour in a host country that is planned and sponsored by local Rotarians in that country.

Housing arrangements may include home stays or group accommodations and participants experience not only the country but the opportunity to be with other STEP exchange students from around the world who are also attending the camp or tour.

Applications to Rotary international camps/tours will be submitted to the camp/tour by Rotary District 6080 once a student has been accepted as a STEP participant. Rotary international camps/tours will not accept direct application from a student.

Experience the world.
